Yard sale
We had our first party in the new home Wednesday evening — a little happy-hour get-together for the SMU folks who worked on our new site for the past many months.
I think everybody had a good time. The animals were a hit…even Addy, who sometimes can be known for coming on a little too strong. (Perhaps it’s the licking?)
The other big hit of the party was an item Chelsea and her mom spotted in our next door neighbor Larry’s yard while I was out of town. They spent the weekend decorating the house, and in one of their many runs to Ross for curtains or knick knacks, they backed out of the driveway and saw something peculiar in Larry’s front grass.
“Couch,” Momma Hud exclaimed. “Couch! COUCH!”
“COUCH!” was all Chelsea could say.
Indeed, it was a couch. But not a typical couch you would find abandoned on your typical street. It was a Crate & Barrel, almost brand-new couch. Estimated retail price: $1500.
Larry simply wanted a new couch and didn’t know what to do with it.
Chelsea was happy to take it off his hands. She called our favorite furniture mover, Marcy, and they moved it into the Man Room, where it has taken its place of honor.
So that’s the best furniture we’ve found (so far) on the side of the street. Now, if we could just find somebody in our neighborhood who needs a new china cabinet…
