Celebrity sighting

We had a fun weekend — my niece Taylor and her best friend Jade visited from east Texas to go on a Dallas shopping spree.

Those girls can shop! I’m glad that Chelsea took the morning shopping shift and I took the (much shorter) afternoon shift, because I don’t think either one of us could have made it through the whole day.

On the way back from the morning shift, Chel freaked me out when she got me to believe that the three of them had gotten their noses pierced. I got visions of my brother-in-law killing us all in a piercing-induced rage. Thankfully, all they did was buy little stick-on jewels that just make it look like whatever body part you affix them to is pierced.

We took them to a few great restaurants around here — Hunky’s hamburgers, Gachet coffee lounge, Campisi’s pizza…but one of the biggest hits was Obzeet, a great little gift shop/cafe that has some of the best desserts in Dallas. As we were leaving the patio area where we enjoyed our dinner, the live band began to play their evening set. Taylor and Jade were both wearing their movie-star sunglasses, and the lead singer of the band noticed as we walked by.

“Look, everybody!” he said into the microphone. “It’s Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen!”

I think Taylor and Jade both enjoyed their moment of being taken for celebrities, and I think they had a good time with us in Big D.
