100 miles of smiles
![]()
If you make a face it’s supposed to stick like that, right?
So I’ve got a permanent smile now!
Yesterday was just a normal day — a few meetings at work, and a few good things accomplished. The only thing out of the ordinary was that Chel started her new job. She even called me during the day to let me know that she hadn’t heard anything new from the dealership about the car. The last we heard it was in Oklahoma somewhere, so I didn’t expect to hear anything different.
Well, little Sassy did indeed arrive yesterday morning, and Chel surprised the heck out of me when she picked me up from work.
I drove us back to Plano to pick up the Jetta, then back to Dallas. We cruised around the neighborhood when we got home. The verdict: top up or down, this little Solstice is hot.
Fun to drive doesn’t describe it. Being behind the wheel plasters a smile on your face. And even people in other cars smile, too. A guy in a pickup pulled up next to me at a stoplight in Plano. Here’s the conversation:
TRUCK MAN: “Hey, how you like that car?”
ME: “We love it! We just got it today.”
TRUCK MAN: “Awesome.”
Light turns green. I drive away. Truck man keeps his window down and pulls alongside me, wanting to continue the conversation. (Don’t worry Mom, it was a straight road and we were the only traffic on it.)
TRUCK MAN: “How many horses it got?”
ME: “Man, I really don’t know.” (I found out later it has 177, but it sure seems like more than that.)
TRUCK MAN: “It perform well?”
ME: “Yeah, it’s great!”
TRUCK MAN: “How much you pay for it?”
I told him. Give or take.
Truck Man gives the thumbs up, and drives off. I have a feeling little Sassy Solstice is going to keep putting smiles on faces for a long time.
