Lap warmer

Mom, Dad and Kathryn visited us over the weekend. We had a great time grilling some steaks, watching some movies and visiting about the finer things in life, and I think Dad and Kathryn learned a few things about landscaping at a seminar they attended on Saturday.
Sinatra the siamese kitten is growing to be quite the host when we have guests over. Each time we sat down to a meal, Sinatra would choose a lap on which to begin his hosting duties. During the course of the meal, he would move from lap to lap around the table, making sure that each guest got some Siamese love. By the end of some meals, he made it onto the table just to make sure that everybody had a good time — and there weren’t any leftover pieces of bacon for breakfast or roast beef for lunch.

Our girl Addy spent the day at the PetsMart beauty shop and came out with a new sweater for winter weather and some purple bows. Pretty darn cute.
I posted some photos of Addy and Christmas on the photos page. Check ‘em out!ÂÅ
Our anniversary, Christmas and New Year’s are all in a span of three short weeks! Gotta love it. This year, Chel decorated the Bug since we didn’t get the car decorated a year ago at our actual wedding drive-off, and we cruised to Fort Worth to visit some sentimental places and have a great dinner at Reata downtown.
Our project for the weekend was supposed to be cleaning house…but instead we decided to go to PetsMart. We met a nice man there who happened to be walking a cat on a leash. So guess what our weekend project became…you got it — trying to teach Sinatra the siamese kitten to walk on a leash.

The first step was getting the harness on, which, as you can see, makes the little guy look like a DEA secret agent or something. Then you simply latch on the leash, and voila! We got about as far as the deck with him before he started sitting down, refusing to walk where we wanted him to. That didn’t deter Chelsea, though…we took him down the block, one small step at a time.
So we didn’t really get the house cleaned this weekend, but we did learn an important lesson about the differences between dogs and cats. Some creatures are just not meant to wear leashes!
