Director of E-Marketing
Southern Methodist University
July 2005 - Present

  • Leading a cross-campus team of developers and designers to create and maintain interactive Web portals for prospective students, current students, donors and alumni
  • Leading the selection process for constituent relationship management, Web content management, online giving and event management systems
  • Managing the implementation of selected systems, working closely with in-house staff and managing multiple vendor relationships
  • Recruiting, hiring and retaining key staff and projecting future staffing needs in preparation for a capital campaign
  • Measuring success using analytics tools and reporting, tying results to staff goal-setting, reviews and advancement
  • Managing an online giving site redesign that resulted in a 150% increase in the number of online donors and a 30% increase in total online giving
  • Developing strategies for blogging, online video and podcasting
  • Managing the University’s online marketing budget, ensuring efficient use of resources by bringing appropriate projects in-house
  • Producing videos and presentations that resulted in a $33 million gift, the largest the University had received
  • Working closely with IT staff, university administrators, academic leadership, and Public Affairs colleagues on the George W. Bush Presidential Library announcement and other high-profile projects

  • Creating overall strategy and budgets for TCU admission Web sites, e-mail, videos and printed publications
  • Designing and developing database-driven Web sites and multimedia presentations, independently and by managing teams of in-house staff and outside consultants
  • Managing the development of TCU’s first online application for admission and first Flash-based virtual tour
  • Managing a team of writers and designers
  • Contributing to a 60 percent increase in applications for admission and an 11 percent increase in undergraduate enrollment during challenging economic times
  • Doubling response to online and direct-mail “search” campaigns for admission
  • Managing the logistics of segmenting and communicating with a database of more than 70,000 prospective students
  • Managing Internet and paper-based surveys and focus groups of prospective students
  • Ensuring a consistent TCU brand by working with staff in admission, advancement, alumni relations, athletics, housing, marketing and communication, student development and academic departments
